Summer 2020 workshops

​ATHENS ADVISORS COLLEGE PREP PROGRAM
for rising sophomores and juniors and their parents
 
This program offered by experienced college counselors with a collective tenure of over 100 years in college admissions, financial aid, athletic advising and college counseling, is designed to give 10th and 11th graders and their parents an overview of the college application and financial aid process.

​Katy Murphy (past president of the 15,000 member National Association for College Admission Counseling and 2,000 member Western Association for College Admission Counseling) and Dr. Peggy Hock (past president of Western Association for College Admission Counseling) will lead these sessions. 
 
We invite you to attend this Zoom program that will include a presentation of an hour plus 30 minutes for questions and answers.  We will provide a timeline of what needs to be considered and what needs to be done to reduce stress and to expand confidence in seeking the right “fit” college.

ATHENS ADVISORS APPLICATION ASSISTANCE  (AAAA)
for rising seniors

We invite you to enroll in the AAAA program, led by college counselors with collectively over 100 years of experience in college admissions, financial aid, athletic recruitment, enrollment leadership, and college counseling.This program is designed to engage rising seniors and help them individually complete the following:
  • A good college list
  • A good college essay
  • A detailed calendar for completing college applications
 
Katy Murphy (past president of the 15,000 member National Association for College Admission Counseling and 2,000 member Western Association for College Admission Counseling) and Dr. Peggy Hock (past president of Western Association for College Admission Counseling) will lead these sessions. ​

Additional topics to be addressed include college admission testing and scheduling, types of applications and application plans, and the fundamentals of financial aid.
 
Each camp will feature daily 3-hour sessions, taught on the Zoom platform, either in the morning or afternoon. The first  90 minutes will be spent on instruction and answering questions. The balance will be devoted to student research and writing and daily individual student meetings with assigned counselors.  Each counselor will be assigned a maximum of 5 participants to ensure individualized counseling for the participants.
