Given these unprecedented times in college admissions, I wanted to reach out to you to provide some helpful advice. I know how hard you have worked to prepare for your spring lacrosse season and share your disappointment in having it cancelled. That said, there is a reason that lacrosse is “the medicine game” and trust that our community will get through this together leaning on the sport that we all love. I hope you find the below helpful and do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or if we can help in any way.
For parents of young and middle-school aged children these times can be especially stressful. While young people are resilient, they depend heavily on their daily routines and find comfort in spending time with their classmates and with those to whom they look up to like their teachers and coaches. I hope that you found the distance learning resources that Coach Whistler shared to be helpful:  I did. ADVNC is sharing weekly videos that are great for keeping your children engaged and that provide drills that can be practiced in small spaces.

Parents of high school-aged children face a situation with seemingly more at stake. Coach Whistler provided resources for standardized testing, and we are finding students dealing with anxiety about the overall college admission landscape as well. As a result, we wanted to provide some guidance for high school students and their families. Colleges and universities are being forced to make decisions rapidly and often on the fly. It is best to focus only on those things that you can control and on decisions that you can make for yourself.

We feel strongly that the focus of the freshman and sophomore years should on working hard in the classroom and finding passions that make you jump out of bed in the morning. For many of us that passion is lacrosse and you find yourself in a special situation as part of the ADVNC family.
